Lingolearns / Public information

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 22 October 2026

How Lingolearns handles personal information across the introduction, signed-in browser app, mobile app and support services.

Public introduction and browser learning

The public introduction provides app information and an Android preview download. Sign-in and browser learning are available through /login and /app. The signed-in service uses authentication, functional storage, learning APIs and the preferences you choose. Public introduction assets are served locally; hosting processes technical request information. Retiring legacy root service workers and static caches does not erase your saved learning preferences.

Who we are

LingoLearns is a trading brand of WEDIGITLIZE LTD, the operator of lingolearns.com and the LingoLearns learning service and the data controller for the processing described in this notice. WEDIGITLIZE LTD is registered in England and Wales (company number 17465598). Registered office: Crown House, North Circular Road, London, England, NW10 7PN. For privacy and data-protection questions, use support@lingolearns.com.

Data protection contact / DPO

Lingolearns has not appointed a formal Data Protection Officer (DPO). Our data-protection contact is the Lingolearns privacy contact at support@lingolearns.com. If our processing activities change so that a formal DPO is required, we will appoint one and update this notice.

Information we process

We may process account information such as email address, username and profile details; learning information such as language choices, lessons, study plans, progress and settings; content you submit to interactive features; speech or audio needed for voice features; technical, device and security information; email-delivery information; cookie and similar-technology preferences; and information contained in support requests.

How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts, provide learning features, personalise the service, operate AI and voice features, save progress, send essential account and security communications, send optional learning reminders where enabled, prevent abuse, troubleshoot faults, measure and improve the service, and comply with legal obligations.

Legal bases

Depending on the activity, Lingolearns may rely on performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent, or a legal obligation. Optional analytics and advertising technologies are enabled only after the relevant consent choice.

Service providers and international transfers

Lingolearns uses specialist providers to operate the service. These include Clerk for authentication; Supabase for database and related cloud infrastructure; Resend for transactional email; Netlify for hosting and serverless delivery; Google services for certain AI/analytics/advertising functions; and other specialist infrastructure used only where required for a particular feature. Some providers process data outside the UK, including in the United States. Where UK data-protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, we use the transfer mechanism and contractual safeguards available from the relevant provider, such as an adequacy mechanism, the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/Addendum, or equivalent safeguards. Provider locations and subprocessors can change, so this notice is reviewed when material provider changes occur.

AI and voice choices

Before you use AI features, we ask for permission to share submitted text, chosen images and recordings, and relevant learning context with Google for generation, transcription and speech. LiveKit processes live call audio and session information. Learning context can include your profile name, age, region, interests, language choices and practice band. You can withdraw permission in Settings. Saved content remains available to read. AI responses can be inaccurate; use the in-app Report AI content control to flag harmful responses. A report includes the excerpt and description you submit and your account identifier for review.

Emails

Essential account, verification and security emails may be sent when needed. Optional study reminders and similar learning emails are controlled through account preferences. Email delivery records are retained for up to 12 months for delivery, abuse-prevention, troubleshooting and accountability purposes unless a longer period is required by law or needed to resolve a dispute.

Retention and deletion

Our current retention schedule is: active account and learning data — while your account is active; account deletion data — removed from the active application database as part of account deletion and normally completed within 30 days across operational systems; backup copies — up to 90 days where deletion from backups cannot occur immediately; email delivery records — up to 12 months; security and abuse-prevention logs — up to 12 months unless a longer period is necessary for an incident, dispute or legal obligation; cookie-consent preferences — up to 12 months before they are reviewed or renewed; support correspondence — up to 24 months after the support matter is closed unless needed for an ongoing dispute or legal obligation. Where a provider controls its own retention of data processed on our behalf, the provider’s contractual deletion/retention terms apply.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may provide rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent. Contact support@lingolearns.com. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling an account or data request. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Schools, universities and teachers

When a school, university, language school or company provides Lingolearns to its learners, it decides which classes they join and controls the school records it manages; Lingolearns processes those records for the institution under a written agreement. School records are membership, class enrolment, an age group (13–15, 16–17 or adult), assignments, submissions and grades. Assigned teachers and school administrators can see a learner’s name, age group, class activity totals (XP, completed lessons, submissions and scores) and last activity. They cannot see AI conversations, voice recordings or uploaded images. Schools can turn AI chat, voice calls and image uploads off for their learners, export their school records and ask us to erase a learner’s school records. Learners under 18 who join through a school are never shown in public rankings, and we do not keep their location or age in their profile. Institution licences are paid by the institution, never by learners.

Children

Lingolearns is not directed to children under 13 and does not accept accounts for children under 13, including through schools. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal information, contact support@lingolearns.com and we will delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy when the service, providers, processing activities or legal obligations change. The date above shows when this version was last updated.

Provider register

Providers supporting the mobile and browser applications include Clerk for authentication; Supabase for database and cloud infrastructure (current project region: us-west-2); Resend for transactional email; Netlify for hosting and serverless functions; Google Cloud/Vertex-related services for AI and generated learning features where enabled; LiveKit for live calls; and Stripe for hosted checkout, subscription billing and the customer portal when payments are enabled. Payment card details are handled by Stripe; our service stores billing identifiers and subscription access records. The introductory website does not load Google Analytics, Google AdSense, Google Fonts or FlagCDN. We do not sell personal information to these providers. Each provider receives only the information needed for the relevant service, subject to its contractual and privacy terms.
